counselling and psychotherapy

counselling and psychotherapy

I have been a neonatal nurse for 24 years and I also have experience in obstetrics and pediatrics. I am very blessed to have an amazing son. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with family, yoga and all things outdoors (especially in warm weather). Both my professional and lived experiences have shown me that there are significant gaps in access to quality perinatal mental health care in Canada. I believe that every baby deserves to have parents who are healthy, and every parent deserves to enjoy parenthood. For this reason, I decided to pursue education and training to bridge that gap and offer counselling and psychotherapy for the perinatal population in my community and across Ontario. I have received specialized education and clinical supervision through Postpartum Support International, The Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Trainings and the Canadian Brainspotting Association. I am certified in Perinatal Mental Health (Postpartum Support International), Birth and Reproductive trauma, Perinatal Grief and Loss (cpmht), and Level 1 brainspotting (Canadian Brainspotting Association). I have also received training in Relational Cultural Therapy for Perinatal Populations (cpmht), mindfulness based cognitive behavioural therapy and the flash technique. I am currently learning about Internal Family Systems therapy for perinatal populations. I am committed to ongoing professional development and will continue to seek out opportunities to learn more about perinatal mental health and how I can best support families as they go though this major life transition together.
